Yueju opera troupe to have online broadcasting for global audiences

SHANGHAI Yueju Opera Troupe launched strategic cooperation with new media platforms today to promote the romantic age-old art form of Yueju Opera to younger audiences.
The troupe will cooperate with China International Broadcasting Network, BesTV and Ximalaya FM to revive the theater.
Online broadcasting of the troupe's latest performances will be offered to a global audiences.
Producers and performers will also host lectures and interactive workshops with Netizens to cultivate a loyal fan base of the art.
Efforts of innovation of traditional theaters are also seen in Kunqu Opera.
Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe held a workshop today at the Shanghai Concert Hall to promote a crossover performance featuring Kunqu and guqin, a seven-stringed zither, on October 19. Both arts have been listed by UNESCO as “masterpieces of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity.”
Famous Kunqu Opera performer Zhang Jingxian and guqin artist Yang Zhijian shared their expertise and offered classic episodes at the workshop.
