Zhangjiang seeks to lure top expat talent
ZHANGJIANG National Innovation Demonstration Zone is to develop a multi-language mobile public service platform to help foreigners to settle down in Shanghai.
The zone will also explore incentive measures for expats considered to be able to make a significant contribution to the city, stated a memorandum of understanding signed yesterday by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs and Shanghai government.
By signing the MOU, the administration and Shanghai government will jointly develop the zone as a pilot sample room for international talent management and provide services and policies for key expatriates. As Shanghai is one of the pilot cities and provinces for unified work permits for foreigners, Zhangjiang is regarded as a key place to implement the new policy.
Meanwhile, the zone is also trialing the “single-window” application for work and residence permits for foreign employees and will also explore more innovative policies, such as enabling top talent to enter and exit China more conveniently.
The zone will also set up an international medical center to meet the needs of foreign talents as well as an international settlement center for medical insurance.
