Zoo looks for a name for its baby
SHANGHAI Zoo is looking for a name for its baby gorilla, now one year old. The zoo wants the name to suit the active, bright male and have a Shanghai feeling to it as well, the Oriental Morning Post reported today.
The zoo gave the gorilla a birthday party yesterday with a birthday cake made from his favorite foods including lettuces, garlic, apples and bananas. A carrot acted as the birthday candle. The gorilla was only half the size of a new-born human baby one year ago.
If you want to suggest a name, check with the zoo's Website (shanghaizoo.cn) and send up to three likely names before May 31.
The zoo will select the six most popular names and put them on its Website for a final vote.
Gorillas are endangered animals and this is only the second gorilla born in a Chinese zoo.
