Adopt your favorite tree

PEOPLE can now adopt a tree or garden area, paying between 30 yuan (US$4) to 100 yuan a year to help maintenance, according to Shanghai Greenery and Public Sanitation Bureau.
This year, a total of 75,825 trees are expected to be adopted, among which 77 are historic, and sponsored greenery areas will add up to 150,000 square meters, the bureau said.
People can choose which tree they'd like to adopt, and prices vary between districts. Companies can sponsor garden areas for between 10,000 yuan and 50,000 yuan a year.
