China issues standard for air purifiers
A technical standard for air purifiers has been announced by the Shanghai Environmental Protection Industry Association and the Air Purifier Industry Alliance of China.
The aim is to regulate the market for purifiers, currently selling well because of air pollution and the public's growing awareness of PM2.5, tiny particles in the air that are particularly harmful to health.
The standard regulates the purifiers' coverage, PM2.5 efficiency and energy use.
All tests should be carried out by a third-party professional testing facility, said the Shanghai-based alliance.
The data for each brand will be released on the alliance's website.
