Focusing on city pollution
Tourists at the Bund take pictures of Shanghai’s iconic Lujiazui skyline, almost lost in smog across the Huangpu River, yesterday. The city is expected to experience moderate to heavy pollution again today, and the situation is predicted to last at least through tomorrow. The city environment protection bureau issued an alert for heavy pollution yesterday afternoon, about three hours after the Air Quality Index had moved above 200. This was in response to public criticism of its delay in issuing a warning last week. — Xinhua
