SONGJIANG District is trialing a variety of wet garbage treatment techniques to improve its capacity in treating wet rubbish, Shanghai Greenery and Public Sanitation Bureau said yesterday. Sheshan Town has been using eight treatment machines using microbiological degradation to turn wet garbage into effluent, which later flows into pipelines. The project has been in operation since late April. Meanwhile, since March, Jiuting Town has been turning wet garbage into fertilizer with a process of fermentation, after adding microbes.
