New paper for old as green initiative grows
CITY enterprises can now trade waste paper for new paper as the clean-and-green drive continues.
The Shanghai Greenery Administrative Bureau started the paper-exchange campaign to promote environmental protection, officials said yesterday.
Enterprises are urged to put waste paper in officially designated processors instead of regular trash bins.
"Participating firms will get a package of new print paper in exchange for each 50 kilograms of waste paper," said Wu Wenqing, director of the bureau's waste-administration office.
City companies can visit http://www.tryun.com.cn to register or call 400-820-2937, the hotline of the Sancon Recyclable Resource Co Ltd, for the service.
Sancon will go to each company to reclaim the trash within 48 hours.
Authorities said they would open tenders to recruit more waste-processing companies to join and expand the Shanghai initiative.
