Pudong to recruit 100 foreign executives
THE Pudong New Area plans to recruit 100 overseas senior professionals within five to 10 years to bolster the area's development in the fields of finance, shipping and high technology.
For each professional, the government will offer a one-time subsidy of 1 million yuan (US$158,088) plus a 500,000 yuan living allowance, officials said yesterday. Excellent teams will be awarded another 500,000 yuan fund and a 2,000 yuan monthly rent subsidy per capita for renting apartments.
Moreover, officials will work to improve medical, education and entry-and-exit services for the professionals. Details of the program, such as how long the professionals would work in Pudong, will come later.
The qualified professionals must have rich overseas working experience and be familiar with international practices in key industries, officials said.
The government announced the preferential policy yesterday at an annual job fair targeted at overseas professionals. A total of 64 overseas talents from America, Japan, France, Britain and Canada attended the two-day event.
They came from various industries including biochemistry, energy and automobile. They were selected from 200 applicants, and more than 95 percent hold PhDs.
The government introduced them to 50 major firms including Roche and China Everbright Bank.
