100,000 may be sterile, says expert
A LEADING hospital says more than 100,000 Shanghai men could be suffering from sterility, Labor Daily reported today.
Lots of men complaining of tiredness, baldness and stress do not realize that their symptoms could be caused by low levels of male hormone, says Sun Kai, an expert from Renji Hospital. Stress, food and lifestyle problems as well as pollution are probable causes.
About 13.46 million men in China suffer from sterility, according to the report.
From March 2003 up to January this year 970 men gave 15,900 sperm donations which 1,008 women used and as a result gave birth to 526 babies.
