2 dengue cases keep sailors on cargo ship
SAILORS from a Libya-registered cargo ship were forbidden from disembarking as two crew members had dengue fever, Shanghai border inspection police said yesterday.
The ship docked at Waigaoqiao Port on Thursday.
The port's inspection and quarantine authorities were notified about the case at 5pm on Thursday by their counterparts in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province.
The sailors were diagnosed with the disease in Shenzhen on Monday and received treatment there, police said.
Officers here cordoned off part of the port area after the ship docked at 7:30pm.
Authorities said all crew members had negative test results, but that they could not rule out the possibility of infection as the disease has a dormant period of five to seven days.
The ship departed for Ningbo City last night.
