A daughter's question ...
A woman whose mother died from her infection and whose father is ill gained access to a news briefing on Shanghai's H7N9 outbreak yesterday to ask experts a question.
Identifying herself as Gu, she asked if serum extracted from patients who had recovered could be used to treat H7N9 patients. The question wasn't answered at the briefing but she was invited to meet with officials from the city's Center for Disease Control and Prevention after the briefing.
Later, officials said such serum had not yet been used as there was still much research to be done on the new strain of bird flu.
