Authorities call on people to donate more blood
The city has a shortage of A and RH-negative blood and authorities are asking for people to donate, officials from the Shanghai Blood Center said today.
The city likes to keep at least 320 liters of type A blood, but storage has dropped to 200 liters, an alarming figure, officials said.
To make it more convenient for donors, the Shanghai Blood Administration Office launched a month-long special campaign on its website (www.shblood.org.cn), allowing people to make an appointment starting from Friday through January 24.
Center officials will contact people to explain the procedure and arrange a convenient time to donate blood.
