Baby with heart defect left among greenery

A THREE-MONTH-OLD baby girl was found abandoned among greenery on Hengshan Road in Xuhui District, police said yesterday.
Wrapped in a green blanket and wearing a pink hat, the baby was found in a bag along some diapers and a letter. The letter said the child was born on September 27 with congenital heart disease. Her family couldn’t afford treatment and abandoning the baby was the only choice. They hoped kind-hearted people could adopt her or send her to an orphanage. The letter writer signed off with “a painful heart, a complex mind.” The baby was sent to hospital for treatment yesterday afternoon.
