Blood shortage

BLOOD storage levels have fallen to just 1,000 liters in Shanghai after a busy hospital season this summer, said Shanghai Blood Administration Office yesterday.

The city normally stores about 1,400 to 1,600 liters every day, but the summer heat has caused a drop in donations. Type A blood is most needed, and residents are urged to donate blood at citywide centers.
