Boy has swallowed nail removed

DOCTORS at the Children’s Hospital of Fudan University recently removed a 6-centimeter-long nail from the stomach of a 2-year-old boy.
The youngster swallowed the nail on Sunday evening and was immediately rushed to the hospital.
In order to minimize the damage to the child’s digestive system, doctors used an endoscope fitted with a special tool to remove the nail.
The removal process took just four minutes to complete.
The boy’s parents, both of whom are carpenters, said their son accidentally swallowed the nail while playing at home in Zhejiang Province. Due to their profession, tools, wood and nails are often within the boy’s reach, they said.
