City鈥檚 state of the heart facility opens

THE city’s first international hospital specializing in cardiovascular diseases was opened yesterday, providing a high quality health service to both expatriates and local citizens.
The US-based DeltaHealth Hospital is the first such facility in China and is being run in cooperation with Columbia HeartSource, a management service organization. The hospital’s first phase of 200 beds is completed and 350 beds are planned in the second phase.
Local leading medical experts will be able to work at the hospital under the health reform, which allows doctors to work in more than one hospital.
The new hospital, which is located in western Shanghai’s Qingpu District, close to Hongqiao International Airport, targets people living in both Shanghai and the entire Yangtze Delta Region.
“We want to provide a new standard of heart care in line with international practice to China,” said Desmond Thio, CEO of DeltaHealth.
