Doctors find 5cm centipede in woman's ear
LOCAL doctors found a 5-centimeter centipede in the ear of a young woman yesterday evening.
The woman said the animal may have entered her ear tract while she was talking on a phone.
The woman surnamed Zhu rushed into the emergency room of Changhai Hospital in Yangpu District at 5pm yesterday, while crying "a worm, a worm."
She said she was lying on her company dormitory bed while having a phone conversation with her friend. Suddenly, she found something like a worm was moving in her left ear. It was painful and itchy, she said.
She checked her ear and was shocked to find a worm inside, causing her to rush to the hospital.
While the doctors were preparing to remove the worm with a pair of forceps, the insect crawled out of the woman's ear by itself.
Doctors found it was a centipede and said it had not caused any serious damage to Zhu's ear.
