First regional clinical testing center working well in Songjiang: hospital

SINCE establishing the city’s first regional clinical testing center, Songjiang District Central Hospital announced that it has received about 3,800 serum samples from the 15 neighborhood health centers every day, growing by 576 percent in the past five years.

The city government is encouraging patients to receive classified health service and go to nearby neighborhood health centers for common and chronic diseases, however the relatively poor testing capability, a lack of high-end equipments and a difficulty of a unified recognition from testing results in the grassroots facility have prohibited patients from visiting nearby neighborhood health centers.

In order to better classify patients for different level of hospitals in line with their condition and encourage more people to visit neighborhood health centers, the Songjiang hospital set up the regional testing center to offer unified and high quality testing service as well as training to resting staff from the neighborhood health centers.

“With the trustful and high-quality testing results, patients are more willing to visit neighborhood health centers,” said Dr Gao Zhen, president of Songjiang District Central Hospital. “It is very meaningful to the current health reform and is a better use of limited health resources.”
