First swine flu death in Shanghai
SHANGHAI reported its first swine flu death today.
The 60-year-old man, who was diagnosed with serious swine flu last Friday, died at the Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center in suburban Jinshan District early this morning.
Doctors said that the patient's H1N1 influenza was complicated by serious pneumonia, which caused his condition to deteriorate, despite emergency treatment.
Shanghai reported a total of 2,123 swine flu cases by yesterday, including 36 serious cases and one death, according to the Shanghai Health Bureau.
Bureau officials said that the city's disease control is stable without any widespread outbreak.
