Flu: US tours postponed
SOME tour groups to the United States have been postponed because of the current swine flu situation, although the government has not called for a halt in US-bound travel.
The Shanghai China Travel Service Co Ltd said it had postponed several US-bound tour groups until the situation had improved.
And Zhang Lei, a spokesman for the Spring International Travel Service, said: "Fewer tourists are enquiring about US-bound tours now, not to mention signing up for it. Before the flu, the products were rather popular."
At Hongqiao Airport, immigration police said to prevent cross-infection between passengers and officers they had installed segregation screens at each check-in desk. The check-in areas are also being disinfected several times a day. Similar screens have been in place at Pudong International Airport for several years.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education has urged schools to strengthen morning checks and report suspected flu cases to local disease control and education authorities.
Schools have also been asked to give instruction in disease prevention.
