Fun run boost for cancer fund
A FUND set up to help a local care worker diagnosed with bone cancer broke the 124,000 yuan (US$20,450) mark yesterday following a charity fun run in Century Park, Xinmin Evening News reported.
Nearly 100 people took part in the event, which added 32,850 yuan to the fund for 57-year-old Pan Jinfeng, the report said. Pan, who worked at the Chengsheng Elderly Care Center for 12 years, was diagnosed with bone cancer on January 31. After hearing of her plight many of the people who live at the facility asked if they could make a donation. Yesterday’s fun run was organized by a member of the 550 Health Run Club who read about Pan in Xinmin Evening News, which established the fund.
