SHANGHAI is leading a national project to research and clinically test the idea of genetic screening on fetuses and newborn babies for congenital deafness, medical experts said yesterday.
The project conducted by Xinhua Hospital has received 20 million yuan (US$3 million) sponsorship from the Ministry of Science and Technology for the research.
