Hospital in TCM recall after label mix-up
A TRADITIONAL Chinese medicine hospital has alerted patients after a labelling mix-up saw some given the wrong prescriptions.
Longhua Hospital, on Wanping Road in Xuhui District, is asking patients to check Chuanlian Liqi pills issued between October 8 and 18.
Some contain different TCM medicine in similar packaging, following an error at the manufacturing plant.
Patients can exchange the medicines at Longhua.
Officials from the Shanghai Food and Drug Administration said yesterday the error was discovered by patients and that the hospital alerted the FDA immediately.
Both Chuanlian Liqi and the other medicine, Zhengdekang capsules, are used to aid liver function in cancer patients following chemotherapy.
Experts said anyone taking the wrong medicine is unlikely to be severely affected.
