Hospital launches new service

SHANGHAI Children’s Hospital is prescribing tests for children who come with symptoms like fever, diarrhea and urine disorders before seeing a doctor that save time for parents.
The hospital conducted a smooth trial earlier this month at the inner physician department at its new branch on Luding Road. It has now introduced the tests at its branch on Beijing Road W. The hospital said the tests will be introduced at other departments too.
Parents previously had to queue repeatedly for registration, seeing a doctor who then prescribed tests, paying for the test and receiving test and then going to the doctor again with the test results.
The whole procedure was troublesome and time-consuming, especially for parents with a sick child.
“Under the new service, parents can save about 20 to 30 minutes, and doctors can give more efficient diagnosis while seeing the child along with the test results,” said Yan Xueming, a hospital official.
