How to protect yourself

SHANGHAI has never reported any anaplasmosis.

But be careful if you take a walk in the woods.

Individuals should take precautions when entering tick-infested areas, particularly in the spring and summer months. Avoid trails that are overgrown with bushy vegetation. Wear light-colored clothes that allow you to see the ticks more easily. And wear long pants and closed-toe shoes.

If you do find a tick embedded in the skin, remove it as quickly as possible. Doctors said it's better to use forceps than a finger to prevent any further infection.
