ABOUT 40 to 60 percent of patients with lung cancer will have the cancerous cells spread to their brains while targeted medication with radiation is the effective measure to improve patient’s life quality and to prolong their life, medical experts told a lung cancer forum at Shanghai Cancer Center.
Low-dose CT lung cancer screening is very useful for early lung cancer and even pre-cancer changes detection and people with high risky factors like smoking and family history should receive regular screening, experts said during the National Lung Cancer Awareness Month this month.
“The treatment effects for very early stage of lung cancer are very positive and many people can completely cure from the disease,” said Dr Yang Huanjun from Shanghai Cancer Center’s radiation department. “The development of targeted medicine and radiation also help patients live a better and longer life.”
