Liver ward opens

The nation’s first specialist ward for children undergoing liver transplants opened at the Renji Hospital in Pudong yesterday. The facility has 22 beds and was specially designed and decorated to put children at their ease. Since 2006, the hospital has carried out 213 liver transplants on children, representing more than 60 percent of all such surgeries conducted in China.
