Local clinics brace for holiday crowds
Shanghai Health Bureau said it has enough medical staff and drug supply for huge crowds of Expo visitors during the National Day holiday starting tomorrow.
The on-site clinics at the World Expo have treated 106,000 visitors since the event started on May 1. The 10 ambulances sent 6,829 people to Expo clinics and rushed 2,552 patients to designated hospitals.
The bureau has deployed more medical staff and ambulances in places with a higher number of sickness reports. It is also stepping up efforts in drinking water monitoring, infectious disease control, and health education to Expo visitors, especially those suffering cardiovascular disorder, fever, diarrhea and respiratory diseases.
