Myopia affects up to 70% Shanghai children
EYE care specialists said that about 60 to 70 percent of Shanghai children aged at or below 12 suffer from myopia, while national figure is between 40 and 50 percent.
The World Health Organization's Shanghai Health Education and Enhancement Center announced today that it will cooperate with Carl Zeiss Vision to launch a program in major cities like Beijing and Shanghai in June to offer eye checks for children and educate the public about eye care.
The program will begin in Shanghai. All the activities will be held at local youth centers or children's palaces, said the organizers.
