New License For Restaurants Issued
SEVEN local restaurants are among the nation's first to receive the new business license yesterday as the country's new food safety law took effect. The new, stricter license replaces the current food hygiene license and specifies the particular service the restaurant can provide. Restaurants yet to open for business must apply for the new license but restaurants which hold the current license can wait until that expires before applying.
"The license is applied in line with size and business and is issued after supervision," said Gu Zhenhua from Shanghai Food and Drug Administration. "Any restaurant doing business not mentioned in the license is considered an unlicensed operation."
