One in every 8 couples suffers infertility in China with egg production disorder being a leading cause
THERE is one in every eight couples suffering infertility in China and women’s egg production disorder is a leading reason for infertility in women, experts told a medical conference on pregnancy and child delivery health.
“Women’s fertility is related with hormones and ovary function. We are suggesting women receive check to confirm their ovary condition to guide their plan of having children and ensure the success of pregnancy,” said Dr Li Jie, vice president of Shanghai Towako Gynecology Hospital. “Women’s fertility ability is related to their age. But some older women also have good ovary function while some younger ones suffer decayed ovary function.”
Experts said the test of AMH or anti-mullerian hormone, a hormone secreted in the granulosa cells of follicles can be used to measure women’s ovarian reserve.
“With AMH data, doctors can give suggestion on women’s child bearing plan and give early intervention to those with improper hormone readings,” she said.
