One more dies of bird flu in Shanghai
A 56-year-old Shanghai man died of H7N9 bird flu early this morning, bringing the city's bird flu death toll to 16, the Shanghai Health and Family Planning Commission said.
The man surnamed Gu was found infected with the deadly H7N9 bird flu virus on April 11 and was transferred to the Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center on April 19.
His wife, 52, surnamed Yu, also died of the bird flu on April 3 in Shanghai Huashan Hospital after developing flu-like symptoms on March 27.
The city has reported 33 cases of H7N9 bird flu. Fifteen patients have recovered and two are still hospitalized, the commission said.
