Pupils Sleeping Almost 10 Hours A Night
LOCAL primary school pupils are sleeping around 15 minutes short of the recommended 10 hours a night, according to a new survey. But the class of 2011 is getting more rest than pupils in 2005 were, when the figure was just over nine hours, said the Shanghai Children's Medical Center.
The center called for a joint effort from the authorities, parents and society to create a relaxing environment for children to ensure they get quality sleep.
"Enough sleep is the basis for children's physical and psychological health," said Dr Jiang Fan from the center.
