Scientists make algae discovery

ALGAE can be converted into a new type of bio-oil that can be used to fuel industrial boilers.
Fudan University researchers have invented a new method to convert algae into bio-oil, school officials announced yesterday. "The bio-oil can help to cover the costs used to fight algae pollution in the countries waters," said Zhang Shicheng, a researcher on the project and an associate professor of the university's Department of Environmental Science and Engineering. The research finding has been published in the recent issue of Energy and Fuels, a scientific journal of the American Chemical Society.
