Scientists seek cheap refrigerant alternative

RESEARCHERS and industries insiders are to seek an alternative of a cheap refrigerant to control greenhouse effects during an international refrigeration exhibition held in Shanghai from today to Wednesday.

China Refrigeration 2013, the 24th International Exhibition for Refrigeration, Air-Conditioning, Heating and Ventilation, Frozen Food Processing, Packing and Storage is launched in Shanghai New International Expo Center in Pudong New Area.

A total of 1,146 companies from 30 countries and regions participated the exhibition.

At a roundtable conference scheduled tomorrow, industry representatives and scientists from the United Nations Environment Programme will talk about how to phase out the use of HCFC, or hydrochlorofluorocarbon for its contribution to the ozone depletion in the upper atmosphere and adoption of replaced technologies.
