Serbia signs cooperation agreement

BOZIDAR Djelic, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia and the country's Minister of Science and Technological Development on Tuesday signed an agreement for scientific and technological cooperation with the Chinese government in Beijing on behalf of Serbian government.

This morning he visited the Shanghai Technology Innovation Center, seeking closer cooperation with China in scientific and technological fields.

Djelic said China is a reliable friend of Serbia and Serbia shares quite a few common interests with China.

He said Serbia, one of the fastest growing countries in Europe with an annual economic growth of 6 percent, is willing to offer a favorable and open trading platform for Chinese businesses.

Chinese companies are welcome to participate in infrastructure construction and high tech projects in Serbia, the minister said.

Djelic is looking forward to Serbia's participation in the Shanghai 2010 World Expo. He said Serbia will increase technological investment and strengthen cooperation with China with the upcoming visit of the country's president.

The Shanghai Technology Innovation Center, a non-profit public institution under the direct leadership of the Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality, helps small and medium-sized companies develop with professional business incubators and provides follow-up services.
