Shanghai flu patient leaves hospital
SHANGHAI'S first confirmed case of swine flu was discharged from hospital yesterday afternoon.
The 30-year-old Chinese man, surnamed Shu, had been living in Australia and worked for an Australian company. He arrived in Shanghai on May 23 on Air China flight CA178 from Melbourne and was confirmed as the city's first case two days later.
On May 25 Shu was sent to the municipal public health clinical center to receive medical treatment under quarantine. The center arranged a car yesterday to take him to Pudong International Airport to leave for Shenyang in northeastern China.
There are still three swine flu patients in hospital in Shanghai. All are in a stable condition. Two, one a flight attendant, were on the same flight as Shu. The other patient is a 26-year-old Chinese woman who arrived in the city on an American Airlines flight on May 23.
