Shanghai's second flu death reported
A 50-YEAR-OLD woman died of H1N1 swine flu yesterday, Shanghai's second death from the virus after a man, 60, died early Friday morning.
The woman was diagnosed as a serious case of swine flu on November 27 and transferred to Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center, a designated hospital for treatment.
She died of swine flu complicated by serious pneumonia yesterday morning after hours of emergency treatment.
The Shanghai Health Bureau reported yesterday the city has detected 2,202 cases of swine flu since the first case was found in May.
There have been 45 serious cases, including the two deaths. At least six people made seriously ill by swine flu virus have recovered.
The bureau said the incidence of swine flu is generally stable in the city without outbreak in schools or communities.
