Slow Flu Season
REGULAR seasonal flu cases in Shanghai are running at low levels, health officials reported.
People catching the flu virus accounted for only 0.52 percent of all patients treated at city-level hospitals from January to April, down 7.27 percent from the same period last year.
Among them, no one was diagnosed with swine flu.
Experts said the drop in flu cases may be the result of repeated health education on flu prevention and control in recent years by local authorities.
They also pointed out that swine flu's symptoms and its transmission pathways are the same as those for ordinary seasonal flu and reminded local residents to practice good hygiene.
