Solar spectacle

LOCAL residents can see a partial solar eclipse between 3:39pm and 5:15pm this afternoon. At 4:57pm, 80 percent of the sun will be covered by the moon, and the sun will set with the eclipse.

The weathermen said the sky will be clear for a good view. It will be the first annular eclipse seen in China in the past 22 years. More visible in provinces like Yunnan, it can also be seen live on www.astron.sh.cn.
