Swine flu spurs disinfecting at Raffles
The Raffles City office building has increased its disinfecting schedule after an employee was diagnosed with swine flu on Monday.
Raffles City is trying to reassure consumers that the shopping mall and office building are two independent buildings with their own air conditioning systems, Shanghai Morning Post reported today.
The infected employee returned to the city last week from a business trip overseas. He has been quarantined in a hospital and the people who had contact with him are remaining at home.
Other office buildings are also trying to battle the disease. Jin Mao Tower has installed an automatic thermometer to screen visitors and the Shanghai World Financial Center is offering hand-washing facilities at every entrance and exit.
Shanghai has reported 192 people suffering from swine flu - 145 of them have recovered and been released from hospital.
