17 flights delayed due to thunderstorm
SEVENTEEN flights departing from Shanghai have been delayed as of 9:30am after a thunderstorm hit the city in today's morning rush hours
Two escalators in Caoyang Station of Metro Line 3 have been shut down following a major roof leak, Xinmin.cn reported today.
The rain was seen dripping down from the roof like a waterfall inside the station. An emergency exit has been opened to drain water off. Signs have been placed to warn passengers to avoid the slippery floor, staff members of the metro station told the website.
The leakage didn't affect the operation of the metro line.
The thunderstorms have caused flood in more than 10 roads in Yangpu and Hongkou district in northeastern Shanghai.
Zhenru Town in Putuo District recorded the most rainfall of 98.3 millimeters.
A crossing under an overpass in Qilianshan Rd has been closed as the flood was 40 centimeters deep.
