2 die after car hits trailer on expressway

TWO men died and another was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision yesterday on an expressway circling the city.
About 11am a large sedan hit the rear of a flat-deck trailer on G1501 in the Pudong New Area, police said.
Witnesses said the car was being driven at high speed. Three people inside were trapped and police and firefighters had to use cutting equipment to free them from the wreckage.
Police later confirmed that two of them, who had suffered severe head and chest injuries, had been pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The third person is in critical condition.
Traffic was disrupted for about an hour before the damaged vehicles were removed.
It was the second fatal accident in two days in the city.
On Thursday, a truck driver died in a seven-vehicle crash in Baoshan District.
