9 agencies named to sell individual tours to Taiwan

ALTOGETHER nine travel agencies in Shanghai will be qualified to provide individual Taiwan-tour packages, local tourism authorities said today.
These agencies have been organizing group tours to Taiwan for nearly three years, the officials said.
The nine tour operators said they are fully prepared and are ready to take bookings for individual tour packages.
According to the National Tourism Administration, mainlanders planning to go on individual tours to Taiwan need to provide a proof of personal assets, such as savings deposit, of at least 45,000 yuan (US$6,430).
A trial of the individual tour program will begin late this month. Mainland tourists can stay on the island for no more than 15 days at a time.
