A cooling-off period
THERE will be respite from the hot weather in Shanghai today and tomorrow even though the city has entered the Plum Rain Season.
The humidity will be lower today with a northeasterly wind. The top temperature will be about 33 degrees Celsius and lows will be around 25 degrees until Saturday, according to the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.
Thursday will see the return of thunderstorms which will hang about for a few days.
Heavy showers hit Chongming County yesterday with 27.4 millimeters of rain and Jiading and Jinshan districts put up with drizzle. The highest temperature at Xujiahui was 32.5 degrees with a humidity reading of nearly 90 percent.
The Shanghai Meteorological Bureau issued rainstorm and lightning alerts at noon yesterday but no rainstorm or lightning hit the city.
