Accident on Fengpu Bridge blocks traffic
A CONTAINER truck crashed into a vehicle on Fengpu Bridge in suburban Fengxian District yesterday morning, blocking the traffic for over two hours.
The truck heading downtown bumped into a concrete barrier in the middle of the bridge and crashed head-on into a vehicle at 6:30am along the S4 Expressway connecting Fengxian and downtown.
No one was injured, but the cargo from the container was scattered all over the bridge, blocking three of the four traffic lanes.
Drivers were found complaining on Weibo.com that they had been stuck on the bridge for at least two hours.
The traffic police closed two entrances to the expressway to clear the road.
The truck and vehicle were towed away from the expressway at 8:33am, when only two lanes of the bridge were opened.
The line of the stranded vehicles extended 3 kilometers in the downtown direction and 5 kilometers in the opposite direction around 8am, police said.
