Airport adds more check-ins

TO ease congestion at one of the city's airports, 36 new flight check-in counters for group passengers have been set up inside a transit center at the Hongqiao Transport Hub.

The move is designed to alleviate problems caused by the increase in passenger volume due to the World Expo, the airport authority said.
Previously groups and individuals shared check-in counter at the transit center. Now, sections E and F will be for groups only.

The Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection Station based at the Hongqiao airport said that after the opening of the Expo about 42,000 people had come to the city in May, a 40 percent increase over last year.
Officials estimateds that during the Expo about 15 million visitors will come to the city by plane, 3.5 million of them international travelers at the city's two airports.

The transit center is next to the recently opened Terminal 2 of Hongqiao International Airport.

Groups holding the tickets of Air China, Hainan, Shandong, Xiamen and Juneyao Airlines can go to the E section for the check-in.

And those with China Eastern, Shanghai, Shenzhen and China Southern Airlines can go to F section.
