Another Huangpu River tunnel is approved

THE Shanghai Development and Reform Commission has approved a river tunnel project that will link the city's northern Baoshan District with the eastern Pudong District to ease traffic pressure on the Outer Ring Road Tunnel, today's Shanghai Morning Post reported.
The new tunnel will be 8.7 kilometers long with three lanes in each direction. It will run from the intersection of the Suburban Loop Highway and Jiangyang Road in Baoshan District across the Huangpu River to the Pudong section of the Outer Ring Road.
Total cost of the tunnel was not mentioned in the report.
