Autumn sun continues to shine

THE recent warm weather is set to linger for a few more days, as the mercury continues to defy seasonal expectations, forecasters said yesterday.

Due to a dominant high pressure belt, the sun will continue to shine throughout the weekend and into next week, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said.

The highs today and tomorrow will be between 25 and 26 degrees Celsius, while the lows will be in the region of 12 to 17 degrees, depending on the precise location, it said.

Despite the warm outlook, today is likely to get off to a misty start, though this should disappear after lunch, the forecasters said.

Today’s air quality should be decent thanks to an easterly wind that kept the density of PM2.5 particles below 50 micrograms per cubic meter yesterday and saw the air quality index move into “good” territory.

Monday through Wednesday will be mostly overcast, though the mercury will remain relatively high, at between 19 and 25 degrees, the bureau said.
